2007 Delta Dental of Idaho Donates Dental Hygiene Kits To St.
Luke’s CARES Program Delta Dental Community Outreach will deliver over 1,500
dental hygiene kits to St. Luke’s Children At-Risk Evaluation Services
(CARES) on Friday, November 16 at 3:00 pm, helping to put brighter smiles on
the faces of hundreds of children now and in the future. Delta Dental of Idaho donated the two-year
supply of dental items as part of their outreach program in response to the

Happens In Your Mouth, Doesn’t Stay In Your Mouth What happens in your mouth, doesn’t always stay in your mouth, at
least when it pertains to bacteria.
Research indicates disease-causing bacteria, including those that
cause gum disease, can enter the bloodstream and contribute to diseases in
other parts of the body. An unhealthy
mouth, especially one with gum disease, may put people at an increased risk
for serious health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, and pre-term or

Runs Throughout Idaho Delta Dental of Idaho is committed
to educating the public about better dental health. You may have recently
seen billboards and bus benches with the headlines, “Seal the Deal On
Fewer Cavities, Ask Your Dentist About Sealants” and “Demonstrate,
Encourage, Educate, Cavities Can Be Prevented.” These prevention
messages are part of Delta Dental of Idaho’s new educational campaign that

Provides Toothbrushes and More To Over 18,000 Idaho School Children Cavities are the most common childhood
disease – five times more common than asthma and seven times more common than
hay fever, according to a Surgeon General report. Nationally, over 51 million
school hours are lost each year to dental-related illness. The good news is that childhood tooth decay
can be prevented, and Delta Dental of Idaho is helping children across the

2007 Free Dental Sealants Helps
Alleviate Prevalence of Cavities for Many School Aged Children Approximately one in four kindergarteners,
one in three 3rd graders, and one in four 6th graders in Idaho have untreated
cavities, according to an Idaho Health and Welfare survey last year. Children
with cavities that go untreated can experience weight loss, poor speech
development, and fall behind in school and social development. Delta Dental of Idaho is helping to change
these statistics.
