Delta Dental of Idaho Donates Dental Hygiene Kits To St. Luke’s CARES Program

November 14, 2007

Delta Dental Community Outreach will deliver over 1,500 dental hygiene kits to St. Luke’s Children At-Risk Evaluation Services (CARES) on Friday, November 16 at 3:00 pm, helping to put brighter smiles on the faces of hundreds of children now and in the future.

Delta Dental of Idaho donated the two-year supply of dental items as part of their outreach program in response to the CARES inquiry for assistance.

Each dental hygiene kit includes:

·                    Toothbrush

·                    2-minute timer

·                    Toothpaste

·                    Fun, educational activity booklet

·                    Color crayons

“Our goal is to improve dental health for Idahoans and by providing education and putting dental hygiene tools in the hands of children, we hope to establish healthy dental habits at an early age,” according to Delta Dental Community Outreach Manager, Lisa Reed.

The CARES Program provides medical examinations and documentation for alleged victims of child abuse as well as medical treatment or follow-up referrals as needed. Our trained specialists at the CARES Program provide medical examinations, recorded interviews and psychosocial assessments.

Delta Dental of Idaho is excited to partner with St. Luke’s on this project. “By working together, we can make a difference for those who may not have access to dental care in our community,” she says.

As a non-profit organization, Delta Dental’s community outreach efforts include multiple programs that focus on education and preventive treatment for all Idahoans, with and without dental coverage.  Delta Dental Community Outreach was established as part of Delta Dental of Idaho’s commitment to promote better oral health throughout the state.

Samples of the Dental Hygiene Kit will be available on Friday afternoon. CARES is located at the Family Advocacy Center and Educational Services (FACES) at 417 S. 6th Street in Boise.
